How To Have Proper Posture

Benefits of having proper posture

Many of us struggle with maintaining proper posture. It can be challenging to focus on sitting up straight while you are, for instance, busy in the office, but the importance of good posture for your bodily functions is tremendous! If you are suffering from back or neck pain due to improper posture, Flowers Physical Therapy, physical therapy near Springfield Gardens, can help!

How to achieve proper posture

  • Cut down on sitting. Sitting down for long periods at a time forces your body to slouch. Take breaks from sitting by walking around for five minutes in between commercial breaks, parking further in parking garages, or even fitting a quick stretch into your morning routine.

  • Exercise! Exercising is extremely important for your body as well as your posture. Physical therapy near Springfield Gardens can help you with proper exercises to build muscle in your core which helps your upper body maintain a straighter back alignment.

  • Pillows. If you are someone who is forced to sit at a desk all day due to work, it is likely you experience back pain after a long day at the office. By adding a pillow in between your back and the chair, you can alleviate the pressure on your back.

  • Keep your head back. Throughout the day our head naturally comes forward whether we are eating, reading, or typing something on a computer. It is essential to be aware of your head positioning and keep your head back because it could save your body neck and back pain.

  • Stretch. Stretching helps your overall body loosen up, allowing your body to achieve good posture. By not stretching, your body muscles are tightening up, preventing your body from having good posture.

  • Be careful when heavy lifting.  An injury is one of the main reasons you could experience pain from bad posture. Back strain caused from injury could tighten your body muscles, causing your body to relax in poor positioning. Speak with a physical therapist for physical therapy near Springfield Gardens to learn the proper way to lift heavy objects without harming your body.

Maintaining proper posture is vital to your body’s overall health. If you or someone you know experiences constant aches and pains in the neck or back, it could be due to improper posture. Contact a physical therapist in Springfield at Flowers Physical Therapy to alleviate this pain.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell
and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
“You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had
to tell someone!
