Staying Active During The Colder Months

Staying Active During The Colder Months
January 17, 2022AdminUncategorized

Many of us want to hibernate until the spring when the winter blows in during this time of year. However, there’s no need to take a break from physical activity when temperatures drop. In fact, there are some advantages to exercising in cooler weather. At Flowers Physical Therapy, our team is here to help you stay motivated and achieve your fitness goals all year round! Continue reading to discover how you can stay active during the colder months.

Staying Active During The Winter

The colder months can be a challenging time to stay active, with fewer daylight hours, colder temperatures, and slippery conditions. But staying active during the winter is one of the best ways to reach your fitness goals and improve your physical and mental health. While it can be tough to get motivated when the snow is blowing, planning will help you get through the chilly months ahead. Here are some ways you can stay active throughout the winter:

  • Explore outdoor activities – Trying outdoor activities like skiing, ice skating, or snowshoeing can help you stay active and have fun outdoors as the seasons change.
  • Dress appropriately – Layering is the best approach to dressing for outdoor activities in the winter. Layers help you stay warm and dry, and if you get too warm, you can shed the top layer.
  • Set up a home gym – If it’s too cold to exercise outdoors, you can set up a great workout area in your home. Resistance bands and a stability wall are inexpensive ways to get active at home. Our team can help design a practical and effective home-exercise program, with or without the need for equipment.
  • Try a class – You can try an exercise class like yoga or aerobics at your local gym or community center.

From shoveling snow to cleaning the house, many activities count toward being fit. Even if you don’t have a workout planned for the day, try to squeeze in exercise where you can.
